What is the point? Last night some thieving fkers have nicked the wheels and bits and pieces off my bike. It's not a super racing machine, it's my commuting hybrid, so nothing special.

It'll probably cost more than the bike is worth to replace all the gear set and wheels and what they have taken is well worn, it's just so fking annoying that they have taken what is mine and that I have to now get the train to work!

Anyone know a good way to electrify a bike? Car Battery to the frame any good do you think?

Sorry to hear that.

It really is depressing that people will nick anything.

bummer, makes me realise i have just got used to locking hte bike up through the wheels regardless of value. in bristol, anything with a quick release goes within minutes of it being left if not locked up.

Yeah I should have done really, but it's been out the front for a year without any problems. I normally leave all out metal outdoor bins right next to it, which would make a massive noise if someone tried to move them.

But guess what, last night my wife had a tidy up and I didn't put them next to the bike. I thought I has being over cautious, guess I've learnt now, there must be someone watching every bike in teh street for just their one chance.

Looks like a new bike is actually going to be muich the same price grrrr.

Totally gutted for you mate. I know how you feel. I had my highend xc bike nicked from work overnight a couple of months ago.

It was the only time that;
a) I'd left it overnight at work in the two years i've been here
b) The front pulldown lockable grill wasn't closed in 14 years

They must have thought it was fking Christmas.

Still, it's an excuse to go shopping!

Well I nipped down to the Evans warehouse sale in Gatwick on Friday night and picked up a cheap and simple Pinnacle, seems fit for purpose if a bit heavy and basic.

Oh well it'll pay for itself in about 2 months - maybe something more fancy next year on the C2W scheme

Was the Evans sale actually any good?

I've heard mixed reviews - some says it's great. Other says it's st unless you arrive really early on the first day.

It was Ok actually, I really went there with an open mind, i.e. I'll buy anything that gets me to work and costs less than £300. I think if you want something specific then it's no good.

It was huge though, thousands of bikes and I went down late on Friday night so it was quite quiet and was just speed buying really, which is quite fun (at least for me).

More than anything they had mechanics there just flying through the bikes which meant you could buy it and get it ready with whatever extras you wanted and walk (ride) out within 10 minutes, which is much better than faffing around in a shop and then waiting a week for them to prepare it for you, so I liked it.

Like I say, if you don't really mind what you are buying it's pretty good and they had abot 20% off most things, with one or two rare real bargains, but you would have to just happen to be there when the van turned up to grab those I think.
