Spent the day up Cannock chase today, mostly on and around follow the dog.

ventured over to the DH section, but to be honest, i was fairly disappointed frown

the DH's are so short, maybe 2 mins, yet the time to climb back to the top is sooo long that it almost doesnt feel worthwhile.

also, i wanted to try the red trail first, but who knows which way i went, because i ended up on what i can only assume to be a black section as it was almost vertical!

i always assumed a DH section would be 5mins of intense high speed action, instead i got 2mins of moderate paced action

if i was any good then it would be much less time again.

am i not "getting" something?

2 mins is pretty long for uk DH if you want longer head up to fort bill, and if you cant be bothered to push back up start booking on to uplift days

ahh ok fair enough.

i wish the sight were clearer for which way to go back up.

first time i went down the fire road, out onto the highway, and rode the long way round for about 45mins frown

2nd time i just pushed back up the way i came down. MUCH faster

The DH at Cannock is a bit pap and the three or four posted runs at the top actually cross over and end up dividing into about 6 at the bottom, so it is very confusing unless you spend a bit of time sussing out which pathway goes where. I'm no downhill rider so I tend to stick to the trail on the far right when I pop over now.

That said I do enjoy FTD and after being matey with some local types I have semi decent knowledge of some of the unofficial bits and bob elsewhere on the Chase. If you're around again post up and I could possibly join you.

Five minutes? Even the longest world cup track in the UK, and one of the longest in the world (Fort William) isn't that long!

Most race tracks are around the 2-3 minute mark. And yes, it's very little riding for the half an hour push up, that's why we use uplifts smile

I reckon it would take most people well over 5 minutes to get down looking at nps times..

Was planning on calling Wildcards to sort out FtD for this Saturday (and a North Derbyshire one for next Saturday).

Anyone up for it? Is is worth its own thread?
