Helmet - Giro Xen

Arent they over £100?
Yup. But they're worth it. Nowt wrong with it's cheaper cousin (the Hex) which I also have, but the Xen is lighter and better vented.HOWEVER, they're only worth it if the lid actually fits you. If not, it's about as purposeful as wearing a tea cosy on your head. Try before you buy!
My cycling buddy had a bad accident where he landed on his Xen. He was doing about 35mph, flew 20 ft landed on his head and then broke his arm. The lid was badly broken but without a doubt saved his life. As a bonus he has "sold"the wreckage back to Giro who use the remains for research into improving the product. They have sent him a new Xen for a small fee.
I also have a giro lid (cant remember the model) and I find it very good.

I have a Xen. Fits my head shape well.
Had a 20mph-odd fall onto cobbles which snapped my fork, ripped my goretex jacket and mullered the helmet.
Did it's job admirably (badly cracked and dented, but generally intact) and cost me £35 iirc on the Giro crash replacement scheme to have it replaced.
