Pace forks/frames etc - what happened to them?

I was looking to see if Pace forks were still on sale but the company website wasn't working and nobody seems to stock their forks anymore. Does anybody know what has happened to them? Have they gone bust or something?

I was going to ask the same thing a couple of days ago after seeing a colleuge come into work on some early 2001 Pace forks

I know they had been working together to let DTswiss sort out the reliability issues of the Pace stuff..

Yep, DT Swiss bought them out.

Pace still make their own frames though. Strange that their website's down, but as far as I know they're still going

Must be three years since DTS bought the fork side of the business. Frames side still going strong though.

I rode on some DT XCM forks at a demo day, the build quality was poor. The small bump sensitivity was garbage, rock solid on the small stuff and blew through it's travel on more medium terrain. I wasn't too impressed.

I'm in the market for a new set of XC forks at the moment so have done a lot of research on forks lately. The DT Swiss forks seem to get quite good reviews but they are a lot more expensive than the Rock Shox SIDs for example and the SIDs are probably just as good if not better. I'm probably going to go for the SID Teams as they seem to offer the best value for money. Lots of fork reviews on http://www.bikeradar.com

Pace - as it is now after the hive off etc - are still running - and just two miles from me. They were originally from past Pickering, in the sticks, but for the last year or so have operated from just outside Scarborough - at the Wykeham Estate Business Park.

Sure I saw a working website a couple of weeks back - try a new search including Wykeham ?

I've ridden the Durin forks - very good, I thought, but not worth the money. Having ridden the current SID range I'd agree that they're much better value, particularly as you can readily get a discounted 2008 SID.

Oh ok. I haven't ridden the SID's but I have some Fox F100's and a pair of Reba's, I'm not much for the Reba's, the Fox's have always been brilliant but not as plush as others and I have tried a mates new 100mm Durin Race's and I thought they were great, better in many ways than my Fox forks. I've also ridden 130mm Menja's and they were like silk. Perhaps I need to have a go on these SIDs then

Honestly depends on what you want them for - as a lightweight race fork they're both good. The Durins are, as I say, really good forks, but having ridden the SIDs I'm not sure I rated the Durins any higher. Both are exceptional, but I've seen the SID Team for around £350, whereas the cheapest I've seen the Magura is around £500. The best value for these would be to buy SID forks from Tim Flooks (£400), so that they're stripped/rebuilt from new, set to your weight (the correct viscosity of oil etc) and generally in better than new condition.

Re your Rebas, get them properly serviced before you even think of swapping them out. It's worth £70 to see if you need new forks, surely?

It's actually the F100's that I may replace, they're due a service and I'm wondering whether I should change them as opposed to having Mojo or TF work on them. The Reba's are nearly new and i've never been that impressed, they do the job I want them for well enough so I won't be changing them.

Site has been hit by a virus, will be up and running shortly.

DT bought the fork side. Pace frames still owned by Adrian but sadly now made in the far east.

Still own a Pace RC100 and 200 and all my modern stuff runs on Pace/DT forks;)
