OK so got one of those royaltec gps loggers (RBT 2300) and got it logging, lat/long/alt/velocity etc. I can also load it into google earth via gps visualizer (and get the cool speed coloured track smile etc)

What I can't figure out is how to get it to tell me how long (miles) and time the route took, also is it possible to get the google earth tour to run at a multiple of the real time? i.e. so it goes faster in the fast bits and slow in teh slow bits etc.

Anyone know if I can ?

Cheers

Dave

Google Earth is a bit limited for route analysis. Maybe try downloading SportTracker ?

Not sure what format your GPS outputs files but you may need to use GPSbabel to convert them.

gps visualiser is a web front end for gps babel.

the GPS unit exports in *.txt format, which is then converted to NMEA via the software.

OP, if you use the actual GPS babel software, it converts the file in a slightly different way than the website does, and you still have the ability to fiddle with, add and remove individual points along the gps track

Sorry, it's SportTracks, not SportTracker

http://www.zonefivesoftware.com/SportTracks/

it imports data in gpx / hrm / fitlog / hst / tcx formats, so convert to one of these with GPSBabel.

Then it will show distance and time and plot it on a nice map (satellite/street from Google Maps) - then you can save your routes and compare days etc.
