Polar rs300x sd g1 Heart Rate Monitor - opinions?
Discussion
Anyone used, or looked at this cycling heart rate monitor? Seems it can either be used with a bike mounted magnetic speed sensor or the GPS module and also for normal gym based training sessions. Any opinions appreciated...!

I got an RS300x through Pru-Health at a good discount and it's an interesting piece of kit. I use it for running primarily although it works just as well on the bike.
Initially, I thought there was a lot to worry about, but I soon got used to all the functions and now I find it quite simple. I use it primarily as a stopwatch/heart rate monitor. It records all my info from my run and tells me how long I spent at 80-100bpm, 100-120bpm, 120-140bpm and so on. It also works out the average and records the max HR reached too. It seems reasonably accurate, it's well built, waterproof and it's got a large easy to read clear screen. Overall, I'm very pleased with it.

Interesting... I've got a Suunto at the moment but noticed you need to have a Polar for PruHealth and am not as happy with the new T3C I have as the old T6.
Does the Polar:
Have cadence option
Connect to a std footpod or gps footpod
Give EPOC or similar scientific training effect
Give training effect as you exercise on the watch
Give calories burned
Give current/avg/total for distance and speed both on cycle and run
link to a computer for logging
If so sounds right up my street - went to the Polar site but info didn't seem to tell me everything I needed and the devices looked to Bike or Run as opposed to Sunnto's one device does it all approach.

Argh! Just bought one on the 'bay' for £140 (but including the GPS option) where I could have had the basic model on the Pru-Health site for £65. The 300 seems to have all of the functions including cadence compatibility, downloads, cycling/running/gym capability. Oh well, need to check how much a GPS would have cost as a seperate item.....
Just checked, GPS is £100+ so OK on cost....Phew!
