Ok got Juicy Carbons (08) on my new blur frame - 203 front and back rotors.

Problem is I find them very on off without much modulation.

Mate has offered to buy them off me and I fancy something a bit more functional with more modulation.

What are the Hope M4s like in comparison with the floating rotor kit.

Either that or something like the Shimano Saints?

No downhiller but I am bit heavy to need something to help me stop.

Well i havent used the M4 but been using mono mini's for about 5 years (varoius ones) and as far as im concerned they have the best feel (modulation wise) than any others that ive tried (Hayes,Magura,Avid) and im just about to upgrade to the mini pro with the new x2 caliper, now ive played about with the new tech lever that comes on the new m4's and was very impressed at the adjustabilitly of it and as usual had planty of modulation (be warned you may have to alter the position of shifters etc as the design of the tech lever means you may have to move them further in towards your grips,ie, grips-shifters-levers as opposed to regular grips-levers-shifters) but you're only going to find out if you like the feel of them if you try them, so get down to your LBS and cop a feel.

Iv only ridden my new m4s once there not totally bedded in yet but feel fantastic loasds of adjustment on the leaver. I think they will be a big improvement over the old m4s!!

My local LBS doesnt stock them frown

How can I make a decision frown

The Avids look the part but maybe with a smaller rotor would be a better feel to them, other hand I have buy new bits urge.

That'll be impressive if they are that much better than the old M4's - I thought mine were great!

If you 'need' to buy new brakes then go ahead, but maybe you should try some different pads first?

Definitely worth trying new pads. However I love my M4s. Loads of feel because of the 4 pistons and excellent stopping power.

Well that was useful.

I dont why I bothered bike tried a bike store in Inverness.

They stocked the hopes and the Shimanos - but couldnt tell me or help me with my choices as they didnt have any fitted or have personal experience.

I walked out frustrated after getting to see them in a box - which was helpful.

Merlin have a deal on the Avid Elixir CRs just now as well as the codes so my choices are getting wider not less!!

Update (for those who are interested)

Went for the new Hope M4s and all I can say is wow - not bedded them in properly yet but what a nice piece of kit.

Had to bleed the front which wasnt too bad and got the floating discs smile
