I'm considering replacing my retro Klein Pulse with a full suspension xc frame. I live in flat Cambridgeshire so don't need a 6" travel DH monster and was thinking of settling with around 4". A friend has recommended a Racer X which is currently pretty cheap, but I also fancy a Yeti ASR.

Has anyone had any experience of these?

Both are very tasty indeed, my mates got an ASR-SL which ive been on a good few times, both are similar prices (unless you can find a cheap? one) at approx £1500 for a frame/shock,Yeti is nearly 0.7lb lighter i believe, however due to its slightly longer chainstay length i wasnt convinced on its climbing abitlity and comes nowhere near my Anthem X either decending or climbing (felt slow). As with most less common brands IMO they are both overpriced, but its your money and as you say you know where there's one pretty cheap. Ideally you need to try a full bike out to see if you like it, i wouldnt spend that sort of money without having one for some testing. There are some other decent frames out there aswell for less money.

Not sure where you are but I've always found dealing with the local distributor to be a useful thing for not-so-common brands - have done so with Yeti here in Australia to good effect. Titus in UK is through these guys...

You could do worse that give them a call and see if they have a bike to ride for a trial.

And yes, I know, Yetis are also starting to become like sh!t in a field.
