Heads up guys, I know a few of you have mentioned Aldi/Lidl cycling stuff before.

My weekly Aldi email has some cycling stuff in it for this Thursday.

I am particularly interested in the shoes with SPD ability - £19.99

I got a set of SPDs (M520s i think) yesterday from a mate who can't get on with them - don't want to spend a fortune on footwear to find I dopn't either so this email is perfect timing for me!

Cheers,
71NotOut

Beaten to it! I was about to post this up.

The stuff's OK, nothing spectacular usually although the occasional thing is good.

Thanks for that!

Got some of the summer stuff a few weeks back and for the money, was pleased with the quality.

Thanks

Even better as Aldi is nearer to mine than Lidl...

shoes i couldn't get on with set up pedals on bike loosest setting for MTB use, turn foot to release not joy ended up with the cleat staying attached to pedal and shoe with threads torn out

Might be me I thought returned for a second pair to have the same problem this time on just fitting cleats and walking across carpet in the garage.

Rest of the clothes seem fine though can't skimp on shoes biggrin

I got there to find just 3 womens coats remaining, which was a bit of an arse.

Bought a shirt and winter top, seems good for the price! Couldn't find any shoes anywhere, but maybe that was a good thing wink

Went on a bulk pruchase mission to procure some of their cycling socks - supposed to be pretty comfy - but only managed to find any in Mrs Digga's size and not mine. Not an entirely wasted trip, but I'm a little crestfallen. frown

I got: winter top, 2 winter shirts, 2 pair of socks, 1 thermal top and the heart rate monitor. All seem very good quality. I'll let you know on monday how good it is.

You've not tightened them up enough then! They need 2.5NM for the 2 bolt spd's.

is it aldi or lidl who sell the infamous "disco biscuits" - for the uninformed, they are a massively sugar laden carbohydrate rich treat of two biscuity layers sandwiching a caramel like substance and some chocolate on top adorned with some smartie-esque confectionary.... awesome...

wore one of my winter shirts today on the longest ride I've done for years. 61 miles from Romiley-Wilmslow-Alderley Edge-Knutsford-Middlewich-Sandbach-Congleton-Macclesfield-Poynton-Hazel Grove and back to Romiley for home.
Had a little lunch stop at 35 miles, then stopped at my mates for a coffee at 55 miles. Otherwise non-stop.
Aldi top was excellent. Comfortable, warm and still fresh when I put it in the washer on my return. Highly recommend it if you can still get any.
