Anyone heard of these lights?
Discussion
I was watching the thread with a link to the company that sells bike lights (deal extreme?) as i need some for night cycling - i do a lot on unlit roads.
I am a bit reluctant to buy those ones due to potential for returns if any problems are encountered.
I have been readin up and firstly, i am amazed at the price some light sets go for! No doubt they are good stuff, but probably complete overkill for my needs.
I have seen some more in my price range and wondered if anyone had any feedback on them?

* Low battery indicator provides warning to make sure you're not caught out in the dark
* Versatile battery mounting positions
* Remote handlebar switch for easy mid-ride control

* A must for extra safety on your cycle, these bike lights are ideal
They seem to offer decent battery life/power output balance and I can stomach that price!
What about rear lights for unlit roads, can anyone offer anything decent - obviously wanted for being seen rather than to see like the fronts are!
Cheers,

It was me that put the link up. Dealtime, despite being based overseas, are very good regarding returns - check their feedback on their site.
LED bike lights are all about the lumens when it comes to off road riding. The higher the number the better. The lights in your link state neither the output or the LED type (it does make a difference) so personally I wouldn't touch them.
If your really worried about returns, buy an (double AA sized) LED lenser from an outdoor shop, and a cheap plastic mounting kit of ebay for about a tenner. LED lensers aren't as bright as the light I posted, but they are very good bits of kit (I know I use one as a search torch in my mountain rescue call out kit). I'd be more than happy to ride at night using it.

I have a set of the DealExtreme lights on order at the moment. They should be with me by next week. I will give an update regarding their performance. All the reviews I have read say that they are excellent in terms of brightness, but maybe the quality of the components aren't that of the much more expensive rivals (no suprise there). Second hand reviews from riding buddies seem to say the same and no negative reports back yet. The 'geeks' on candlepower forum talk of needing to pot the PCB in thermal potting to increase the cooling but we shall see! I'm not going to be using them on a daily basis, and I will have a head mounted torch as well as a back up.

I just got my SCC P7 powered light from Dealextreme. The build quality seems really good, easily as good as any Maglite I've had. Light output is amazing and battery life is better than expected too. I got well over 2 hours from one cell. I think the whole lot including 4 cells, charger and various mounting accessories cost me £40. It took a while to get here but still a cracking deal. Importing a load and selling them from the UK could be a nice little earner come to think of it...

I got some last year - best brightness for the price at the time. They are very good!
ETA the I also like the look of that light in Mackie's post above - one of those as a helmet light and the Electrons on the handlebars would be a perfect cheap decent setup - roll on payday!

Make sure you have at least 2 lights, with a bit of distance between them - eg mount one on seatpost and one low down on seatstay. Makes you far more visible and if one fails, the other is still going. I also have a helmet mounted light that flashes front and rear. My new rears came very well reccommended - Smart 1/2 wattCheers,

My one of these just turned up today. Quite simply amazing!!! I can't wait for Thursday (my usual night-riding evening) to try it out properly. http://www.mtbbritain.co.uk/mountain_bike_lights_r...

ETA: Ordered a set of velcro lockblocks after wasting an hour improvising something with jubilee clips that on reflection looked lethal if I hit my face on it... d'oh. Bloody bright light though
