I need a set of mudguards, I like the look of these:

But apparently they struggle to accommodate tyres over 25mm in width. My tyres are '700x28c' would the 28 bit refer to the width? Sorry, I'm not particularly familiar with road tyre sizing.

Yes, that's correct, your tyres are 28mm wide.

yep,28 mm on 700c is outwith the range of what most folk use

28mm is very popular on hybrids and winter bikes. Rolls as well as 23mm (at the same pressure) yet gives a little more lateral contact area - useful in the wet.

SKS do guards that will fit 28-35mm.
