I have decided that I am going to move my recently purchased 09 rockhopper expert disc on. So far I think it has been out of the garage once, and whilst it is nice to have and all that, I am not using it, and in all likelihood, I won't that much in future.

I have had some one offer me £400 for it, and I declined that. Gonna stick it on gumtree etc this eve or tomorrow, anyone got any ideas what I should be aiming at?

Cheers

What size is it? The larger adult sizes seem to sell for more than the smaller ones... IMO

Since it's around £750 new I'd say if you could get £500 then you'd have done well.

I've been following these on ebay for a while and and from what I can tell 19 inch '09 immaculate expert rockhoppers seem to be going for nearer £500. The ones going for more seem to have lots of upgrades on them. But once you have lost all your ebay fees it's obviously less. You don't see as many 17 or 21 inch bikes around.

It seems the bikes located centrally were going for more, possibly as people look at home pickup rather than having them 'posted'.

you will need to be quick as a lot of stores stocking specialized will be getting '10 bikes in and selling off 09 stock in the sales. i havent seen any on sale yet though, so there are not too many cheap 09 rockhopper experts around. the rockhopper is always popular so you shouldnt have too many problems. dependant upon how quickly you need the sale, advertise it for £550 and aim to accept £500. when the big unit shifters start their sales though it might need revising...

I think Evans had it down at £750 last time I looked, reduced from £849. If its going to only get £500, I think I'll keep it. Bearing in mind its pretty much show room condition, thats a bit of a hit.

You won't use it, so its better to get £500 now than £300 next year when its still in showroom condition.

The depreciation on a mountain bike, expecially something like a Rockhopper, is similar to that of a Large, French, Petrol Engined Luxury car in a funny colour.

So if you dont think your gonna use it - you may as well get rid ASAP.
