I have a Rockhopper 08, and the front chainring keeps trying to eat my leg when I wear trousers... Is this a common problem? Can you get a guard for the front chainring? I don't like wearing bicycle clips

It could be worse. I've seen a ladies bumhole eat her skirt!

You could try ditching the big ring in favour of a bash guard - search google for e13 bash guard. This may or may not solve the problem but works for me when I ride in my jeans.

You can also get bashrings that allow you to retain the big ring at the front - they just fit with longer chainring bolts.
