My Juicy 5's finally gave up on me and need a complete rebuild. Since I'm not so technical I'd have to get them serviced and rebuilt by a mechanic. This works out almost the same as a Hope X2 front brake!!!!

Because of this I've decided to upgrade both front and rear to Hope X2's, but I've noticed they don't come in 203mm as my Juicy's do. I'm guessing this is because they are more powerful than the Juicy's.

Does that mean I should use a 183/160 setup or should I get a 183 front and rear too?

I'm not sure if this makes a difference, but I'd also like to get the floating discs with braided hoses (but purely for aethetic reasons hehe).

As for my ride. It's a 2006 Spesh Stumpy FSR....

Any advice would be great! thumbup

I've got 183/160 floating rotors with braided hoses and they are fantastic. Had old Mono M4s previously and although they lack the same ultimate power, the modulation is far better and they are still powerful enough to lock a wheel with one finger, which to be fair, is all you need!

I have mono's on 160's both ends, floating rotors. I elected not to have braded hoses, you dont need them and they are heavy. I can lock both wheels on any surface at any speed with this config and I am quite a large guy.
These brakes are SUPERB. They have NEVER failed and friends with Juicy's etc (which are always going wrong / need bleeding / feel spongy are changing to the hopes.
The floating rotors eliminate fade and the hopes just feel better and better. Light and easy to modulate with one finger.

I need to think about it I would guess....

I've also been looking at prices at Jenson USA. I can get both for just 235GBP which is a cracking price!

Has anyone had any experience on delivery from them and being stung on tax?

If you have to import the kit from the 'states are the pads easy to get hold of?

I'm not sure I understand what you mean.

Why would it be any different to pads in Europe? It's a Hope X2, right? I didn't realise there was a difference.... confused

Sorry didnt realise you "option 2" was a Uk available.
I have the the previous version of the X2, I think they were called micro mono (or something). I had a play on a demo bike with the X2's the only difference is the levers, which actually are brilliant. Really easy to adjust and set up the brakes just how you want them to feel. Not that I have any problems with the older set up, but the facility to adjust is very good.

Have to agree. Coming from Avid Juicy 5's (which, actually, I got on with very well) to Hope X2's, it's really great being able to adjust both reach and bite point independently; you can set them up exactly how you want them to fit and feel.

Just need to get the buggers bedded in now - had my 1st off-road ride on them last night (in very wet conditions) and it was quite scary at times! Definitely better by the end of the ride but there's a way to go yet.
