Can anyone suggest the cheapest source for a roof mounted cycle rack to carry 2 bikes.

Car already fitted with factory roof rails, so only need the horizontal bars and the 2 'racks' (trays) that the bikes attach to.

Cheapest I've seen so far is around £350! Car is a Saab 9-5 estate (2004) if this helps?

Do all roof mounted cycle racks fit all manufacturers cross bars?
i.e. would the Thule 591 carriers fit on the Saab cross roof bars?
Cheers,
Jim

The Thule 951s should fit to all roof bars, unless they are a particularly "aero" (ie wide).

I would definitely avoid the £14.99 carriers you can get from motorworld etc, they last about 5 minutes then fall apart. The Thule ones are built to last.

Try your local dealer. Cheapest place that quoted me for cross bars and 2 carriers was my dealer. They fitted it all FOC while I waited.

I've got atera carriers and thule bars - got from roofbox.co.uk if I remember right.

Good quality and an excellent price but weren't particularly cheap. Pee'd all over Halfords' price though.

Second Thule for quality, had mine (aero bars & carrier) for knocking on 10 years now and still work as well as day I bought them.

I'd look in Halfords for what you want and then compare prices on roofbox.co.uk. IIRC Halfords do price match or order from web.

Also Thule website & roofbox website allow you to put your car in and they tell you what bars/feet etc you need for your make and model
