Anyone done this? Thinking of doing it in 2010, seems like a nice ride.

Thing is Mrs. Scruff has it in her head that she'd like to do it; I've been riding off-road for years and do so regularly so it looks pretty managable from my perspective. However, while she rides about 60 miles a week (on a mountain bike) on road she's done very little (read 'no') off-road work.

How hard is the off-road stuff, I'm thinking in relation to Afan which is my regular haunt? I have no doubt that she's fit enough to manage the distance I'm just a little worried that the off-road sections might be too technical? Fire-trails and bridleways, no drama, single-track and drop-offs I'm not so sure about.

Of course we have a lot of time to get her used to off-road but in my opinion there's no substitute for time in the saddle!

Thanks

A load of my mates did it this year. They're all pretty competant mountain bikers and some of them also race too - and even one of the latter had an 'off'. They're all up for it again next year though, which perhaps tells you enough about the event!

I'm sure your wife could get up to a suitable standard although I understand that it's not like a trial centre.

Somewhere on our LBS forum, there's a thread with pics of their trip: http://www.mammothlifestyle.co.uk
