Watch the vid. Tramlines with no warning signs or markings. The first time someone comes off on these and goes under a bus the City is going to be sued out of existance, surely?

We had this is Sheffield when the Supertram was built - if I remember correctly someone was killed.
There were many reports of cars skidding too as Sheffield Council in their wisdom decided the tram could share with cars rather than having its own route exclusively to avoid the jams.

Absolute joke. Considering how new those tracks are, I am not impressed with the cracking tarmac that is running alongside them!
I was up there at the start of this month and was amazed how much of the UK coffers Winky and Badger Brow were spending linking Edinburgh and Leith. All looks very 'rushed' though and, as you say, quality of the tracks and the safety issues clearly leave a lot to be desired.Vron said:

It would not have possible to run the trams totally "off road", there just isn't the room. There were many reports of cars skidding too as Sheffield Council in their wisdom decided the tram could share with cars rather than having its own route exclusively to avoid the jams.
The cyclist who was killed in 2007 rode into the path of a tram. Very unforunate but it wasn't linked to the actual tracks.
As long as you are careful and cross the tracks at an angle especially on a road bike you should be ok. I feel far more threatened by inconsiderate car drivers!
