I took my bike out today, it was like driving a cat on linoleum.

Am hoping things defrost a little more for my planned boxing day ride.

Then off to Coed y Brenin for a week. No amount of prep can get me in the right place for how cold it's going to be!

I bought a new pair of MTB gloves yesterday so I tested them out on a 2 hour ride in the snow, it was good fun and not that difficult. Hopefully I will get out tomorrow because the wife finishes work for Xmas and new year on Wednesday and no doubt the topic of the week will be shopping and visiting relatives and friends. (I am so glad I took a few days extra holiday and finished on Friday)

My contributions from New Year.

As predicted was rather cold, and couldn't get to a lot of higher trails as they were under too much snow. Thankfully Coed-y-Brenin didn't get a huge amount (couple of inches) so was accessible all the time, although some of the rocky descents were interestingly grip free.

2 pics, one from Beefy on the Dragons Back trail - and the second from a ride out into uncharted territory around Ffestiniog where I may have got really rather lost.

I'd love to be out today, but doctors still say no.

Here's a 'how to' if anyone fancies a go.

I've continued commuting through the snow, great fun albeit a bit hairy at times. I wish I hadn't left my mountain bike at my parents house, skinny slick tyres have made deep snow and ice rather interesting.

This was my journey to work yesterday:

I decided to try riding in this morning. It was much better than walking! The route is mostly compacted snow with some slush and it wasn't bad at all. The powder in the carpark was a bit dicey though!

I've just been out on my bike for a ride in the snow, it's a lovely clear morning about -4C still where I am. I was disappointed to see the postie has abandoned his bike today. hehe
