London to Brighton 2010 team - LAST CALL FOR ENTRIES

Hello all,

Having taken part in the London to Brighton as part of the Haymarket team for the past couple of years I'm looking into the possibility of organising a PistonHeads team for the 2010 event.

Could you add your name to the list to express your interest at this point so that I can get a feel for the numbers we'd be looking at?

I know that the L2B has limited appeal to really hardcore cyclists, but having done it before I'm going to try and ensure that we get the best out of it. That means a very early start, and we'll try to organise a support team of volunteers for Brighton too if we can.

So, let me know if you're up for it.

The shirts are unlikely to be available in the PH shop as we need to order too many to make it viable. Some wanted MTB baggies, others a more road orientated option and we couldn't make it work. The shop has the correct contacts and are happy to pass these on to you if you wish. Sorry mate.

Was really up for this, but it is my best mates wedding in Finland and will be there instead.

O/T slightly, but Stuart having taken part before, how hilly would you say the route is down there? I really have not spent any of my life in the area in between London and Brighton so I have no idea what it's like down that way. The odd incline is fine, but would it be silly doing it on a 25 year old single speed roadie? Cheers

There are two big hills, but the rest of the time you'll be fine. The only other problem might be a bit of traffic in places, but my advice would be the same as that offered above!

Up ditchling? Without getting off? Fixed?

I thought I was doing really rather well on Ditchling last year on my road bike. It was hard, but I'd got my food right and was just attacking it as well as I was able to so late in the ride.

Then an 11 year old WHEELIED past me on a bike that was too big for him and which he'd possibly just stolen, and with his packed lunch hanging over one handle bar end in a Sainsbury's carrier bag. He was wearing jeans, trainers and a hood top.
