Due to a logistical fk up yesterday involving a pothole/short stem tube/deep dish wheel/pump malfunction/puncture scenario, I ended up having to slowly ride 5 miles home on a flat tyre which now needs replacing. Currently have/had Vredesteins (sp?) What is good these days in the way of clinchers? I don't race, but the need for speed is strong.

I use Continental Ultra Sports as well. They seem fine but I'm not convinced they have a lot of grip (Maybe I'm just too used to MTB tyres!).

I use Continental GP4000S all year round. Light, grippy and puncture-resistant.

(Perhaps not ideal for general larking about and commuting, as they do wear relatively quickly, and the sidewalls are quite thin)

I've been on Bontrager Race Lites for a while and really rate them, eccept that they're utter basterds to put on.

Cheers for the advices chaps. Ordered some Contis at about 11 last night from Wiggle and already had an email saying they are being dispatched today! Cracking service, assuming the postie doesn't lose them.

I think mine are Gatorskins from Conti. Not bought any in a while, and not bought any inner tubes for a while.

Watch me get one on the way home now I've said that.

I also use these, but the yellow ones - they're very very noticeable and a good safety consideration for commuting.

Continental GP4000S' are nice, if a bit "numb" feeling, akin to riding on an old hosepipe. Incredible grip though.

Recently switched to Vittoria Open Pave Evo CGIIs, and they're ace (as they should be for the price!): grip nigh-on as well as the Contis, roll beautifully and feel great. A little heavier (30ish grammes) but a lot more comfortable (24mm vs. the 23mm of the Contis).

Delivered this morning at 07.40! Cracking service from Wiggle. Only way I think they could improve on this level of service is if they dispatched a couple of lycra clad lovelies along with the tyres to fit them for me hehe
