Just watching the Paris-Nice coverage on Eurosport - is anyone going to be able to challenge Contador this year? He's already riding away from his rivals. Perhaps he won't be able to maintain this advantage into July but he's on another level at the moment.

Can't see anyone beating him in July, unless he has a bad day.

I think when he looked over his shoulder today he was rather suprised to be all alone. Was he feeling warm today, shorts and no gloves?!

i agree. i cant see anyone mounting a strong challenge in le tour because as an all rounder he is just too good. schlek should stay near him on the mountains, as should the likes of wiggo, kloden and evans, but contador can smash out a damn fine tt as well so it will be tough for the rest. Evans at BMC is a dark horse and worthy of a challenge. Wiggo with boassen hagen as support....just maybe?!?

astana arent the strong team that they were overall though so he may have one or two issues but he still has the likes of pererio should he need some support...

Wiggins is apparently going for the Giro rather than run into an unbeatable Contador in the Tour. Good decision, if true.

In terms of a win or participation? I hope he still rides Le Tour even if it's supporting someone else.

wiggo will undoubtedly be the lead man for sky at le tour and i think he will finish well but if he is going for the GC on the giro then fair play to him and i hope he does it.

it gives him a bit less time for recovery given the track world champs are late march but maybe he wont be used as much as a "new" breed of british pursuit riders are coming through....

The only way to beat him is to isolate him and work him over, due to his distinct lack of a team - but the Schlecks tried that last year and it didn't really work.

Last year during P-N he showed that he wasn't invincible, but it was what happened in July that mattered. It is difficult to see past him for this year's tour.

Wiggins can't win it imo - he has learned how to climb, and can TT well enough to be up there, but being able to climb and being able to drop Contador, the Shlecks and Lance are two very different things - would put him on the podium if he has good form, but just can't see him winning it - going for the Giro is a smart move IMO.
