I fancy trying to cycle back to my parents house in Hertford tomorrow - I live about 5 miles from Tottenham so I thought I could make my way up there and get the lea valley path back that way - question is I don't have an MTB or a hybrid - as I'll probably get the train back I thought I'd give it a go on my folding bike..

Its a good 20+ miles which doesn't bother me - but is the path itself fairly smooth, or is it the type that has a load of shingle and angular stones etc on it? The folding rad is pretty sturdy but given it doesn't have stout tyres (but they arent too bad)I just wanted to check that I wouldn't end up getting a flat after 5 mins?

I've often go for a cycle during the summer up the River Lea tow path from Walthamstow as far as Ware. Most of it is fairly smooth with the occasional gravelly stretches, one just passed Broxbourne I think.
You will probably be ok on the folding bike, just take a couple of spare tubes and a puncture repair kit (and something to eat and drink, there's one cafe on the canal at Waltham Abbey but not much else)
