oh I see...sorry...well obviously there are the recognised competition, but in most cases its kit and colour that changes..if you're happy go for it.

I changed from old hardtail to new FS and it was quite something. Going from racy leaning forward position to sat back/upright was very relaxing and then having the kit to handle the bumps and lumps so that you float over trails that would've previously thrown you off is quite something too... the speed you can carry is awesome... that bike got nicked though.... and I replaced it with a carbon hard tail as I do a lot road miles too and FS are just not fast enough for me.
I always had a 'thing' about getting good FS kit at that price point too...you could get a very classy HT or a less classy FS.... its very personla and subjective...

oh and as the mantra goes, nothing beats sitting on the thing and riding it before making a decision....

the anthem has won so many awards of late and demand is sky high for them at the moment, especially the x3/4. to be honest, its the best of the low end full sus market. the rear suspension design works better than anything else out there, its as a simple as that. the back end is planted and the traction unrelenting. i rode an x1 and fell in love with it but had to give it back at the end of the dya!

the x4 is a nice bike, well specced, reliable kit, if it fits go for it. you should, with minor tweaking get it to fit you, usually saddle position or stem length turn a reasonable fit into a good fit if you are sat on the most appropriate size to begin with.

there will be a lot of them on the trails this year for a very good reason.

pedalon do a deal withthe 10% of the bikes value in gear if that appeals rather than just atstraight reductin on rrp?

test ride it then...definitley test ride it. If you don't try it, you'll never know if you're missing out on something better.... I'm glad I had my time with a (really) good one....enjoyed it...made 'coming home' to an HT all the more enjoyable wink

Looks like a lot of bike for the money. That sort of kit would have cost you the best part of two grand when I got my first full susser.

i think you need to play around with the suspension settings and the lockout positions on any full sus bike first, expecially if you are still considering a hardtail mtb. you will find that a modern fs can climb like a hardtail now but more importantly, descend far faster....

There are plenty of Giant dealers around the country. Giant also have their own stores around the country too.

Giant's Maestro suspension systm is very well regarded for being very efficient.

To be honest you'll struggle to find a 'bad' bike nowadays. I'd second riding one before buying.

I think what you mean is a well set up fs bike can climb better than a HT.

So you're both right.
