Hey folks. Basically, my bike has two positions for the rear shock (as you'll see in the photo). What difference can I expect it to make if I change from one to the other? Is there a particular situation it might be wise to do so?

Cheers!

I guess they're the same thing as my '06 Enduro.

It changes the bottom bracket height.

A higher bottom bracket obviously gives you better pedal clearance, Spesh's are generally low bikes, great for mid corner grip, but means you bash the pedals a lot.

So Answer 1 - Higher, Better Clearance, Lower, Better handling.

But.. Raising the BB height steepens of the head angle, makes the front less stable over loose stuff, but makes it turn fast - ideal for tight, twisty tracks.

Answer 2 - Higher, quicker turning, lower, more front end grip.

Most people tend to think of it as higher - more XCish, Lower - more DHish, but that's a very simplistic answer, there's some many more factors if you're looking for more speed, a higher BB lets you get on the pedals quicker coming out of bends etc.

TBH - It's a minor, almost just 'feel' thing.
