Just bought a Lapierre XC 210. Bike rack ideas?
Discussion
Just bought the bike from Evans Cycles and am very impressed with it on the quick spin around the block. No idea if it is going to be any good on the trails but it looks nice in blue, so who cares
More importantly it will get little use unless I find a way of securing it to my Lexus ISF. Any ideas with regard to boot mounted racks or roof racks?
Are there any manufacturers that are highly recommended or any to avoid?
Finally is there a limit to how fast you can drive with a bike attached either on the roof or boot? Would be a pain if I have to drive like a nun while on a long run.

I prefer roof racks, no lighting or scratching issues to worry about, only car park height restrictions.
I'd recommend the Thule 591 Proride carrier, has always felt solid and easy to use.
On roof racks for the car, no idea. If you go for aero type, make sure if you need adpators to mount a carrier that they exist.

thule. aerobars and the proride bike rack. job done...
seriously though, having a bike on the roof is pretty secure and the thule stuff is very strong and well worth the outlay. its lockable and doesnt wobble at 70 on the motorway. i dont trust stuff on the boot unless its towbar mounted as i have had bad experiences of the stuff that is hooked into the rear wind and strapped down. even one bike is a lot of weight to suspend over the rear window and/or boot and cornering forces just try to swing that weight out. there is a minor issue of more crap like dirt and rain hitting the bike if its on the roof but its not too bad, just protect things like fork boots and rear shocks with some bubble wrap before you put it on hte roof...
prorides come with fittings for aero or std bars too....

The only thing I would add to that is beware that not all aero fittings are the same, i.e I had to add washers to fit thule 951 to the extra wide slot aero bars on the BMW own brand touring roof bar kit, not sure if the same for Lexus, but worth looking into.Edited by pablo on Friday 2nd April 21:59

Guessing it's the 2010 model? Get some photies up !!
I have the 2009 model, once the shocks are set up right, it's an awesome machine for the money !!!
As for bike racks, either OEM roof rack or a Thule, you need that thing roof mounted r show it off
