What info do i need off the bike, i have been searching but there are a few available and specs mention all different measurements.
It is an orange gringo mtb, i am not sure of the year, internal diameter of head tube is 1 5/16", o/d of head tube is 40mm.
The headset that was in is a Ritchey scuzzy logic but only the outer parts were there, everything else was missing.
Can anyone shed any light?

Its the steerer tube that you need to measure.

It will either be 1 inch diameter, threaded
1 and 1/8th inch diameter, threaded
1 and 1/8th inch diameter, non-threaded.

Purchase headset to match. Make sure you buy a cartridge bearing type unit.

If its a 1 and 1/8th inch steerer tube you have, then yes thats what you need.

How old is the bike?

Makes sense. 1and8th inch threadless has been the most common size for 15years or so.
