.
Anyway, the standard saddle on my Spesh. Allez sport is quite crap after 15-20 miles.
I really need to change it for one that doesn't make my arse feel like I've had my back doors bashed in.
I've started to do more miles with each ride and I'm aiming for a 100 miler before the summer's out.
So which saddle would any of you recommend for less than say £70?
Many thanks.
(I'm 6' 3" and 93kgs, if this makes any difference)

Fizik Gobi, although it's a shade over your budget. Or a Charge Spoon which will leave you with a sizable chunk of your budget to spend elsewhere.
ETA: Gobi for £70 at Merlin - http://www.merlincycles.co.uk/bicycle-saddles-fizi...

It its a Specialized Alais or Toupe, give it a bit more time and you might find that its the best saddle you've ever used.
I've just gone from an SLR to a Charge spoon on my MTB and it feels amazingly comfy, so I'll be changing the SLR on my roadbike too as I'll never notice the extra 75grams and my arse will thank me for it! Well worth a look and at £25, cheap enough to try out and bin if you don't like it.
Many decent shops offer a loan saddle service so you can try before you buy. Might be worth trying some as it is such a personal thing.

I really rate and have two of the ISM range:

Really good saddles, not for everyone and they take an age to set-up properly, but excelent in the long run. Some call them snake oil, but I find them very beneficial.

Don't get carried away with weight, etc, as the most you'll 'save' is around 100-150gms. Make sure you get something which is the correct width for your 'sit' bones, otherwise you'll always become uncomfortable. Some saddles have cut out for the perrineal (sp) nerve, which may also be something you want to look for.
You *may* have to try two or three before settling on something which suits YOUR anatomy. The charge spoon isn't a bad starting point (esp for the cheap price).

Everyone's arse is a different shape so saddle fit is a very personal affair.
1. If you're new to cycling then your arse will hurt for a while (2 or 3 weeks) anyway. HTFU
2. Make sure the fit is good (fore-aft adjustment, plus height)
3. Make sure it's as parallel to the ground as possible (use spirit level)
4. If none of the above has worked then get to a local bike shop and get your arse measured properly and then buy correct width saddle
5. Be prepared to go through a couple of saddles before you find one you're happy with. See if you're LBS has a loan model or will do an exchange
