In the spirit of recent event based threads....

Anyone planning to make the journey north to watch the world cup in Fort William in June.

I will mostly be there on the hill on Sunday with a rucksack full of stubbies, screaming like a mad thing at peaty and co!

Been a couple of times before and its an amazing weekend

Anyone else going to be there?

Where you staying?

I went for about 4 or 5years in a row, from the very first one, so I've not been since 08 I think?

All my riding buddies are shooting off to Whistler for 3 weeks in June, which is massively frustrating as I cant afford it.

But I'd like to to get up to Fort William again, it really is brilliant. I'll have to find someone to get up there with me though.

Some amazing memories - handing Peaty a Chilled Stella the second he crossed the line - a tin that we'd meticulously kept cool for hours and hours on the hill - got us in a magazine did that.

Digger-Phil Saxena (A fellow Leeds Lad we used to knock about with) inviting us to a party down one of the Hotels, where one of the pro-riders broke a drunk Scottish guys arm after being challenged to an arm-wrestle.

Dancing on the tables in the capercaillie. The view from the Summit, looking down over the moor, into the trees, and to the race village below and thinking.. Here. To there. Down that. In FOUR minutes!?

Air horns. Cow bells. Falling in muddy streams. The most amazing riding you have ever seen. The absolutely EPIC Saturday night 4-cross - 20 deep crowds the whole way down the track.

I remember the year that Lopes bust his ankle on the start straight - we were right next to him - he used to come out of the gate like a bullet from a rifle. Incredible.

I would seriously, seriously reccomend that anyone with a passing interest in mountain biking of all types, makes the effort to get up there. Its a fantastic weekend.

and lots of other fun stuff...
I'm driving up with a pal as part of a biking road trip round the country. We're going to be full to the brim with a weeks camping kit etc...

Does anybody have campsite recommendations in or around Fort William? I think if we're not already too late, we should probably get our fingers' out on this one!

Glen Nevis campsite is where we always stay. Short walk into town but it's clean and tidy with good showers. Is full of bikers on wc weekend. We've booked in the past but also turned up and go on aswell. Depends what day you arrive, will be full by Friday evening. The whole of ft William will be completely rammed.

Loads and loads of people end up camping by the roadside.

I would try book a site, ifyou can't, then try to arrive on Thursday and you might be ok. If not, don't worry. You won't be the only ones camping on the roadside.

A friend of mine wrapped himself in a tarp and lay down by the side of the road last year!!!

Glen Nevis is full frown

Not adverse to just making camp at the side of the road but does anyone else have any suggestions...?

edit: there's room here http://www.lochy-holiday-park.co.uk/camping-in-For...
