Right, who's doing what? Typically I ride 4 x 16 mile commutes a week plus I cycle out to my customers (typically ten mile rides) and do the odd thirty mile ride at weekends. My longest ride currently is 48 miles with a mile swim in the middle.
What do people think you *should* be able to do before the big day?

15 - 30 miles 6 times a week for me.
I can feel steady improvement, but need to work on the hills more and I need to keep in mind that I have only covered half the distance in one ride so far.
I won't be the fastest on the day, but I should do OK I reckon and am aiming for a nice steady ride.

I'm doing 40km commutes (as hard a pace as poss) three/four times a week then a 50-75mile club ride on Sundays (although that's not every week).
You can complete L2B on far less than that - I'd argue if you know you can manage 30miles with a few hills then L2B is easy.
If you want a good time though that's different. More training required.
I'll be doing this the week after Windsor Triathlon so injuries aside I should be in pretty good shape to zoom off a 6am and race down there as fast as my legs will let me...

I have been leaving work, doing a lap of Richmond park every night before home, and then the normal longer ride at the weekend, although its hardly taxing going round the park daily with the steep hill at the end is rally improving my fitness, and waistline!
Are you doing the L2B?Garlick said:
I'm very impressed by some of the distances you chaps cover.
There is no way that I will be riding with you guys for long, but I'll do my very best.
........we are stopping for tea and cake along the way aren't we?
Definitely NOT.... couple of gels, couple of Clif bars, one bottle isotonic and one bottle energysource and non-stop to Brighton, last one there is buying a pint before we cycle home There is no way that I will be riding with you guys for long, but I'll do my very best.

More seriously - I'm hoping for a 6am start and non-stop to Brighton...

Im currently doing 10 miles each way from home to here, at PH towers- going flat out to give myself a proper CV work out. Im also doing 30-40 miles jaunts at the weekend. Couple all of this with my Choi Kwang Do training, and I should be in decent shape by the big day. Its my first L2B, and the first time im doing an endurance event, so im hoping to finish in 6.5 hours or less.

To be fair the prospect of riding with loads of others has never appealed, they're very annoying on the road, and look gay as hell. I'll do it with one of two of my mates.
