Hi Viz advice please.
Discussion
Hello all.
Just starting to ride on the road a little - I'm normally an off-roader - and I think I ought to be wearing something a bit hi viz. All the jackets I've seen look like they're are made of a basic nylon (I may be wrong) which I think might make me somewhat sweaty. I DO NOT feel the cold at all on the bike and tend to sweat profusely when I warm up.
Are there any super breathable garments you can recommend, or should I try a hi viz pound shop 'waistcoat'?
Any sensible suggestions welcome. Thanks.

I wear one of these in lemon

It's really light and breathable.
If it's really warm then I wear one of these

in orange or bright green. Again they're really breathable and they're also very cheap.

Not sure if you're talking about just riding on the road, or riding on the road for a purpose (i.e. commuting). I sweat a lot too but use a rucsac on my commute - it's got a built-in fluoro yellow rain cover but I use it on all journeys. You can buy covers like this to fit any rucsac/camelbak.
If you want to avoid wearing a jacket, you can also get some fluoro yellow / scotchlight reflective wristbands/anklebands. These are great for warmer weather but also great for indicating directions of travel in the dark.
Failing all that, a fluoro yellow mesh vest worn or tied onto rucscac (or even your waistband if you're that hot) would be a good start.

make sure your position on the road and general road "body language" makes sure you're noticed.
9/10 you're alwas seen by the driver but they assume they can get past you, out manoeuvre you or generally treat you like a drain cover.
Position well, ensure you're seen and noticed as a vehicle rather than street furniture... that helps in these summer days more than any fluo jacket will
Come autumn or dark riding then yes usual fluo/led light stuff applies

Thanks chaps for all the replies and info. Found just what I wanted on Saturday at a new LBS in town - a hi viz Endura sleeveless zip-up waistcoat thingy. Delighted.
Trouble is, I'm a Kona fan and the shop is a Kona dealer. It may be time for a full-suss Kona to join the hard-tail I've had for some years, after drooling over their stock...
