On this clear and sunny weekend, who's been out on their bikes?

Did a road loop with a mate this afternoon - pretty warm and we got to High Beech to find no ice cream! Thankfully found a van in one of the other car parks for a much-needed 99. Just over 70km, funny to think the last time I got out on my road bike it was all overshoes, ear warmers and 3 layers!

Did 40 miles on Saturday, down to Marlborough and back. Here's the outbound leg - took a longer route back.

Used an iPhone app called cyclemeter. Produces some decent stats; distance, speed, altitude, calories etc.

ETA: Great day for it, arms and neck nicely burned now!

Do you use a gps system on your bike?

A mixed bag here. Managed a leisurely 30 miles on Saturday. We were saving ourselves for our trip to Newport Velodrome yesterday. We had a 2 hr taster/training session with our local club.

It was my first time on the boards and was awesome. Really good fun.

I'd thoroughly recommend it.

Up to Laggan Wolftarx with a group of Scouts on Saturday. Ten minutes in and one of them needed six stitches so that was a good start (and we were doing the easy stuff and he'd been before). Then a bit of cycling in the Cairngorms around the back of Loch Morlich on Sunday.

It was roasting but some great cycling.

I took my mountain bike out both days. Nothing too exciting, just the trails in the local woods, but it's fantastic to get back out on something bouncy and frequently airbourne after way too long confined to the road bike. There was nothing stopping me before, I just never got round to it with so much time spent cycling on the roads and now I've hit hit trails again ... God I miss mountain biking. Need to get my gears sorted out and then I think a trip to Wales is in order. smile

Yes, a (relatively) cheap and cheerful Garmin Forerunner which I mount on the bars. Great for the usual bike computer stuff (speed, max, averages, etc) but also for pretty maps when you finish and you can also prepare routes in advance to follow. Nothing flash, but an arrow and black line to stay on works fine and saves stopping to check a map all the time.

Laggan is quite 'tech' in places - i.e. pretty damm rocky!

I would have loved to have been up there, you could have done the double of ski one day and bike the other!

I was in Yorkshire, camping it up and mostly riding round dalby forest all weekend. good times smile

(although I couldn't find specialist cars of malton garage on the way home yesterday as was driving through and fancied a perv)

It can be indeed, but the bike park is very smooth and rollable, so even beginners can manage it of they are careful. He only got as far as the first corner.

We were then going to head off and do the green with the inexperienced ones and red with the more experienced ones (quite a few had been before) but we only got as far as the doctors in Aviemore. Joys

I did South Road Race Championship at Upavon on Sunday, then 40 miles from Hythe to Barton on Sea and back yesterday, and a local race this evening....glutton for punishment.
