Shimano SPD's - PD M545 Pedal Noise???

Right,
I got some Shimano SPD pedals and shoes for my bike, but, for some reason, lately my right pedal makes a clicking noise under load. I've manged to trace it to the actual pedal as i thought it might have been the bottom bracket or crank arm, but i can feel it clicking under my shoe.
I've done all necessary checks with the springs on the actual mechanism, lubricated with hot wax and GT85. but still it persists, I've even resorted to tightening the screws to see if they were loose.
Has anyone else had a similar problem? I've done everything except taking the pedal off to copper slip the thread, is this a common problem? I've tried searching on google for all the various forums relating, but no joy.
This has been annoying me the last couple of weeks, as its distracting. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I used to ride with these and they never made a sound. You could try unscrewing the axle from the main body and checking the condition of the bearings. Also might be an idea to lube the areas of the cleats which connect with the pedals.
Tried lubing the spring mechs, but i think it might be a case of removing, copper slip and re attach, will try and see whats what.i have just bought a new pair of these, the last ones finally died with bearing failure after 5 years hard riding (you would never guess from my size 
), and it started with a click just as you describe.
i looked everywhere to find a guide to replacing / lubing up the bearings but they seem to be sealed cartridge ones so had to bite the bullet and buy new in the end.

We thought it was the BB orignally, had it stripped and re lubed, cured it for a while but now it seems to be clicking and i can feel it through my right foot, which made me think it might actually be the pedal.
My other option is to get a sealed unit and see if it makesa difference, the bike gets alot of punishment through the use i give it, alot of trail work recently.
I'll see what happens when i remove the pedal and check the thread. Thanks for the pointers though, must be a thread problem or the BB.
