Reba SL - Plastic bobbins bundled in with manual etc?

New MTB came with Reba SL forks with remote lock-out, bike spec suggests 100mm travel. Rock Shox manual provided and in the bag with this is a zip tie and two 'waisted' black plastic bobbins or bushes. Hole up the centre.

Nothing in the manual to say what they might be for and it's not obvious to me unless they are some sort of spacers or shimming device to reduce the air volume if a higher rising 'spring' .rate is desired in the fork (just guessing). Anyone know?

They're travel adjusters. Depending on how many spacers you have you can adjust the travel between 80mm and 120mm. The more you add the shorter the travel.

It's in the manual.

And the cable tie is a high tech way of retaining the brake hose!

However, it's worth checking the manual / website, though, to check if the SL can be adjusted... maybe they just bung the same kit in with all models of Reba to save time/money?

All genuine aftermarket Rock Shox forks are 'All Travel' so travel can be set to a point between the travel range of the fork - Rebas are 80 - 120mm.

If they are OEM forks they are set to the travel out of the box and can't be changed, apparantly.

I thought the instructions were in the manual but checking my Reba manual the info isn't there. Which is odd as it's in the Pike manual.

So, assuming I'm happy enough with the 100mm of travel they come with (I am), why would I want to add spacers to reduce this? Can see why someone might want to increase the stroke...

Would natural ride height alter as a consequence of any possible changes?

Because the next frame you buy might be corrected for 80mm forks.
