I can appreciate why people like these FS bikes (and don't get me wrong I'm an Orange fan, having owned both a Clockwork and a P7) but by god did that look inefficient on the flat let alone uphill.

Ah, my local trail - the natural stuff in Stirling, not Glentress (although I was there on Saturday too). Nasty crash at 3m20 for Danny, a few stitches I believe...

I was up Dumyat last night, actually been up there 6 times in the past 3 weeks. Can't beat it for fun

Always liked the Orange 5, great all rounder. Definitely riding without PP on when they're on the flat, either that or they need to invest in a shock pump! I'd say the former

Lovely video, not rode up in Scotland for years, the natural stuff looks very similar to the stuff I normally ride, fun

Ditto. I used to be a staunch hardtailist until I tried to ride one down the side of a hill and nearly died. With modern suspension tech, you can virtually turn an FS into an HT for the climbs anyway.

I'm neither pro-HT or pro-FS - I ride both but mainly a hardtail. Just prefer it for most of the riding I do where my 6" travel full-susser would be complete overkill.

I suppose in a backwards way I like the challenge a hardtail is to ride compared to a full-susser which certainly makes things easier! Sounds illogical but then I also ride a singlespeed which says it all I suppose...

To a certain extent it probably is, but you know what they say about what goes up....

I find FS bikes more fun because of the liberties you can take with them. The key thing I found when moving to FS was the ability of one end of the bike to respond to issues while the other end is already dealing with its own problems - if the back end is sliding and the front suddenly hits a rut or something.

I love my Sub 5, but that's a 2003/2004 model year so not really relevant to todays machines. Actually that raises a question - how different are the current models?
