Hi guys, girls,
My gf wants to get a bike to ride to work on and for fun around the parks etc.
I really know nothing about ladies bikes, and even less about mountain bikes these days), she is looking to spend up to £400 on something that will do everything, although its not ever going to be doing Fort William it will be doing some woodland trails etc.
We've looked at the Myka bikes from Specialized, these look fairly run of the mill, and like the hardrock probably good for everything?
What do people think?

Why limit yourselves to a women specific bike? I've never seen the point, other than the pretty pink colours. The most important thing is she gets a bike that fits and she is comfortable on, there is more choice if you look at 'mens' bikes.
Plus you can use it as well without looking like a girl!
I suggest a hybrid bike, I reckon she will be more on road than off?

Typically on Trek the distance from saddle to handlebar is shorter as women are built that way.Plus you can use it as well without looking like a girl!

I bought my wife a Trek hybrid something-or-other last year. She uses it to take the little girl to school and for the occasional shopping trip (we're in London). It was about £400.
Seems OK, she's happy with it. The only things I notice are the skinny hybrid tyres (not good for kerbs and potholes) and the laydeez frame - with the kiddo on the back and school books in the front basket the frame bends more than a Lib Dem front bencher.
If your OH doesn't mind jumping on an off a bloke's bike the additional stiffness makes a huge difference (the wifey wanted a ladies frame make it easier to start and stop with the kiddie seat)
