Wider fitting SPD shoes

I had a pair of Specialized Tahoes which were lovely when I tried them on in the shop, and walked around in them, but as soon as I took my weight off them (like when I was on the bike) they were a tad too narrow and uncomfortable. Fortunately I came to this conclusion not too long after I bought them, so they were in good condition when I sold them on.

What would you recommend for a wider foot? What are Shimanos like?

Sidi do the Dominator 5 in a Mega fitting which is wider. You won't like the price though...

Northwave are meant to be a bit wider, I'd avoid anything italian apart from the aformentioned wider ones.
Specialized are a bit o the thin side.
I've got wide feet but I found the shimano MO86's were a really good fit, the ratchet fittings seemedto help with the overall fit. Only problem is they're gold...
They do do them in silver and white at Decathalon but they were quite a bit dearer than in my LBS.

Time are worth a shout too - I had a pair of the ulteam carbon jobbies for about a week before I got rid - far too wide for my shimano sized feet.

Tried a couple of pairs of Shimanos but found them to pinch around my little-toe area. I had intended to try a few more brands but the chap in my LBS handed me a pair of Specialized Sonomas which fitted very comfortably. I'm resisting peeling off the cleat-cover in the sole for a while - I'm going to use them as trainers for now, until I've convinced myself I won't have the same problem as before. They definitely feel better than the Tahoes but I'm going to give them a chance to mould around my feet a bit more first.

Shimano do their shoes, although I'm not sure which models, in an E designation for Wide fitting.

I keep an eye out on Ebay for them, as they often go cheap for some reason. Ask your LBS and I'm sure they'll look through the Madison bible for you.

I’ve got wide feat size 9 feat which means I couldn’t squeeze into Spech. I’ve got a pair of Sidi Eagles (I think) and due to their adjustability all round they feel great.

Don’t get me wrong it took 10 hours bedding them in to get the shoes to be as comfy but still as stiff (red carbon sole) as they are now but wow…. Down side tbh is that they are fairly racy so don’t offer much protection around the nose of the shoe but you can service the shoe on most parts so I reckon they’ll give me at least 2- 3 years service which tbh isn’t bad.

I got a great deal they were down from £240 to £155 from cycle surgery. I’m about to do a 90 mile charity thing in Scotland and comfort wont be an issue (well not from my feet) so from never being 100% feet wise it’s the best thing I’ve done in recent years.
