Recommended foods/drinks for a long ride?

Hi5 energy drink is very good but fairly expensive. You can get it from CRCC. Would be delivered by the weekend. There are lots of different manufacturers of energy drinks but the one I tend to go back to time and time again is Hi5.
Any of the sports bars high in carbs are excellent, powerbar is my favourite, they can be difficult to unwrap and chew on the move. Again they are pretty expensive. Don't get a protein bar as they are only usefull for recovery, not for an immediate energy hit.
Energy gels are good too.

Jelly Babies and flapjack seemed to work for me
That's pretty much what I survive on - homemade flapjacks with added choccy chips if I'm feeling flush. LIDL jelly babies are awesome, as are Tesco's own brand ones.
But I really like this approach:

If wedged with something appropriate a can of Guinness fits nicely in the standard bottle holder.
