Which helmet for the road?

Looking to get a new helmet now I'm doing a few more miles on the road. Ideally want something lightweight with plenty of vents. Any glaring recommendations or otherwise from the masses?

Looking to spend £50 - £80, and I've seen the following:

You really need to try them all on, even some helmets made by the same manufacturer can have quite different fits.

I tried every skidlid in the shop and only one fitted really well. So I picked that one.

I have a MET Inferno which I find extremely comfortable. However, I bought blind and the outer shape of the helmet is not as suited to my head as I would have liked - try lots on!!

It is very difficult to find a shop which stocks a wide range of makes and styles. Many shops stock one or two brands only, they often only have limited sizes and colours. I've been looking for a new helmet for a while and cannot find one I'm happy with.

If anyone knows of a good shop that stocks lots of different helmets in the West London/Middx area then please let me know.

i have a specialized echelon, it was about £40 and its comfy and has a good degree of adjustment. vents quite well too.

Was that on display or in the store? My Evans only displays a few but stocks all the ones you see online.

Agree you need to try them. I found an independant bike shop near me was the best bet, had loads in a variety of sizes. I ended up with the Saros as the fit was the best, even other Giros had different fits so you do really need to try them all - I had a bit of a wake up call after that!

Won't Evans order you some in to try? I found that round Putney (SW I know) there were LOADS of bike shops, so you should find them there?

Just have bought a Giro Monza. Tried loads on at my local Evans then got the Monza at Wiggle.co.uk as it was £15 cheaper including postage.

Sorry Evans but you do get a lot of my money.
