I have a GT Chucker hardtail which I use for trail riding, currently has awful RST Launch forks (100m) but looking to upgrade to something better, with 100 to 120mm max travel. 110mm would be ideal as I'm looking for a little more travel than it has currently. Open to opinions on whether or not 120mm would be a wise move on a bike ideally built for 100mm intended travel!

What would you look at, upto the price of £230 approx?

Cheers

That is indeed a Billy Bargain. And damn good forks to boot.

It is a bargain considering they go down to £247 when you add them to your basket (they're currently doing extra 10% off deal on these).

I ordered some and the total inc next day delivery was £251!! Absolute bargaintastic smile

The white ones are out of stock but so long as black doesn't look too out of place on your bike what does it matter.

That's a VERY good price and a cracking fork too. Doubt that can be beaten for sub-£250.

Bloody hell, buy them.

I got Reba Team 120mm Maxle forks for £400 and that was a total bargain.

120mm wont slacken the head angle too much over 100mm, and if you're concerned by that you can run the negative air chamber a little harder, and the forks will sag slightly more into their travel, giving you a really supple 110mm-ish fork.

Love mine for trail riding. The difference between those and cheap RSTs will be colossal.

BTW - Merlin Cycles rock.

Another Reba lover here. They are giving them away at that price.

I've got them on my new bike - the difference between them and my old bike is astonishing. Much better movement and inspires much more confidence than my old bike.

Slight point though - the forks alone cost more than my old "introduction" bike did (well, almost, it was a £300 GT)!

Just fitted them this afternoon, what a difference they make. They must be half the weight of the old RST Gila forks too.

As I use the bike for commuting too the remote lock out will come in very, very handy.

Thanks for the link to this MATRS, just what I had been looking for cool

My only tip for fitting is make sure you measure twice/cut once with the steerer tube. I cut mine a little long and then had a right faff trying to cut another 1/2" off the end frown

This isn't a problem - you can always add a spacer or 2 on top of the stem (which actually makes your fork more useful if you're ever going to sell it on or move it to another bike with a longer head tube).

The worry would be cutting it too short!

Yep, I could have done that but the bars are at the height I like so thought i'd keep them the same (although I probably wouldn't notice 1/2" extra).

Cutting short is a problem a certain other nameless bike riding PHer managed to do some time ago biggrin

If I remember right he had to fork out for a brand new steerer tube.

Nah - you missed the point of my post; the spacers can go above the stem, thus giving you the bar height you require and some extra steerer tube for future-proofing.

They're a cracking price for Rebas.

Very good fork and it says that they are 'all travel' model so the can be adjusted to run between 80 and 120mm - they need stripping to do so.

Poploc is a ballache feature though.

I'm planning to dump the dreaded Suntour XCR's that came with my Scott Aspect and these have jumped right to the top of the list.

Are they OEM or Full Retail (boxed etc) ?

They came boxed with a manual. In a plain cardboard box but i've no idea if they'd normally come in a shiny Rockshox box or not.
