Anyone else had trouble with getting their HRM battery changed without it taking a lot of time and costing a lot of money?

Mine has been with them for over 3 weeks, just to get the battery changed. Apparently it needed a new chest strap too....so they are billing me £70.

I wish I'd bought a Garmin, and binned the 710i!

I have a newer polar belt - the old ones are totally sealed
My battery died a few months ago
Yes you need to send them away to get the battery changed
The local shop wont touch them
Something to do with waterproof seals

I found a kit online with seals to change the battery but was told I would trash the unit if I did

So I bought a watch battery myself for 2 quid and swapped them over
It couldnt have been easier and Polar really do have some explaining to do

My £10 lidl one has a screw in plug to allow you to change the battery if that helps

Ok, im not sure how it'd fare underwater but it certainly hasnt complained about me drenching it with sweat for 6 months or so (not continously )

RS800CX PTE here with Polar Wearlink strap, S3 footpod, bike pods and G3 GPS...

Bike pods are disposable but last ages before they need replacing.

G3 uses an AA battery so unscrew and replace

S3 is a bh and really tempremental with battery choice, very poor design

Wearlink HRM belt dead easy, changed is last week in about 30 seconds

Not had to do the wrist unit yet but expect that to be just as easy.

When I had the battery replaced on my S810i (I think) the battery didn't last very long.

(Maybe 6 years for the original one in the watch, then about 18 months, maybe less, for the Polar replaced one.)

I ditched it in the end.
