KMC powerlink thingys

Having got a SRAM chain on my commuter bike I love the whole click-out link thing for cleaning. Except Sram don't appear to do a silver link for a 10 speed Shimano chain. I found a KMC one but question is..... any good?

KMC and SRAM links are almost identical, I have used both with no problems. KMC is currently on the bike.

I don't like the KMC or SRAM ones - In my experience, they can become clogged and become a bd to get off really quickly. The Wipperman ones I like, because they do not rely on brute force to get apart.

That is useful to know. The SRAM appears impervious to force in any direction until it has had 10 minutes in a chain cleaner. It was only stubborness that stopped me using a chain tool last time.

Powerlinks are a doddle to remove, you're doing it wrong. All you need to do is press both plates hard together between your finger and thumb, and then slide them apart with minimal force.

And if that doesn't work 'cos the chain is so gunked up, a length of gear cable threaded through the link and crossed over to give some decent purchase will do the trick.
