Hope Hubs, 15mm? 20mm? QR?

All these axle options available for the front, what are the advantages/disadvantages? Just about to buy some new wheels with Hope Pro II hubs and need to decide.

Depends on your forks. Not that it matters: the Pro 2 can be adapted to fit any of the axles fitted. Takes <30 seconds to change.

I would think SIDs will be QR only. QR15 and 20mm bolt thru tend to be the fare of slightly burlier (heavier) forks.

SIDS will be QR iirc.

If your buying factory built hope wheels you should get the adaptors anyway, useful for the future.


Basically, 20mm bolt through is far, far stiffer, I hate the feel of wibbly wobbly QR forks now.
QR15 is a newer, lighter type of bolt through used on shorter travel forks, best of both worlds.

SIDs are, IIRC, QR. I say "IIRC" because I *think* there is a model of SID that comes with the 20mm Maxle Lite or even (given it was developed by SRAM's competitors) 15mm.

Either way, you use the same Pro 2 hub for all of them: only the adaptors change, which pop in and out of the hub body with ease.

Well my current wheels are QR, so I assume this is what I will use on the new wheels. I will get the 15mm adaptors with them, I just have no idea how it all goes together! I see the 20mm axle option is for specific forks.

There're spacers that plug into the hub shell. That's it. Pull the QR ones out, plug the 15mm or 20mm ones in, secure into place using the metal C-clip which you push into place with a biro. Reverse the process to go from 20mm/15mm to QR.
