Boyhood hero done well for himself - Andy Ruffell

It's a pretty amazing story really. I remember when he came down to do a demo on an old car park behind our local bike shop many years ago.

And still has a lot of time for BMX
He was over in England recently for the "Burner Bash" and while he was here he rode a lot of the old spots like Romford Skatepark.

Nice to see, he was one of my first heroes, I eventually got the "Team Raleigh" bike, helmet and top but never got anywhere near his talent

There was about a hundred of us waited outside the BMX shop in Stafford one summer because it was rumoured he was turning up.....

Kids had ridden miles on those silly little BMX wheels - some from Cannock & Rugeley and, AFAIK the guy never showed.

I met him a few times down a Rom, i was trying to remember his name a few weeks ago and it really annoyed me.
does anyone else find it strange that they can remember seeing andy on all sorts of kids TV and him only being a tad older than themselves?

Thats what I think about when I talk old school BMX! Funny how time moves on, when I started is seen as old school now!!?? So what does that make Ruffells era? Pre historic school!?

Stupid kids these days tailwhipping before they can bunnyhop a curb......
