I'm thinking of picking up a single speed for mooching around town on the weekends.
As its not going to be my main bike i'd like to keep the purchase price relatively low or ideally pick up a bargin.
The question is, many shops (such as evans etc) have lots of sale bikes at the minute and i wondered whether offering below the sticker price is likely to be frowned upon?
Does anyone have any experience of haggling when buying a bike or is it not the done thing?
Cheers

Why haggle when you could buy this:

Has eyelets for pannier rack and mudguards should you want them and will be ideal for a hack around town... best thing is if it gets nicked you've not lost much and if you want to pimp it with different set ups you're cost are low to start with anyway....

You should always haggle. Most LBS work on 100% margin.
As it's a single speed, they will know you are a geek and know you will be s
te at haggling. You will be lucky not to get abused as they man handle you to the shop door.

you may not get a discount but they will probably through some skinny jeans and a courier bag in with the deal...As it's a single speed, they will know you are a geek and know you will be s

Maybe on accessories and some parts they might but on bikes they are likely to be closer to 50% margin max. Still no harm in asking though, plenty of people did when I worked on the trade. If you don't ask you don't get
