Hope X2 problems
Discussion
I was mountain biking over the weekend with a few buddies and ended up trashing my bike. (Skewer came loose and axle got bent, shock guard broke off, belt middle chain ring tooth)....it's all repairable however I did something very odd to my Hope brakes where the banjo bolt is attached to the caliper.
Basically the bolt came loose and all the brake fluid came out contaminating the pads and disc.
The first question is since they are brand new from Wiggle, is this a warranty issue and when I get around to bleeding the brakes again, do I have to replace the pads or can they be cleaned up again?

I doubt you would get far with a claim as most small print will include checking that your components are in working order before riding. Unless the bolt/hose physically broke and didn't just work loose you'll be on a long road to nothing
As for the pads, for the sake of a tenner replace them, pads are porous so they will absorb stuff like oil or fluid, better to just get some new ones, and make sure you clean up the rotors with Isopropyl Alchohol or brake cleaner.

Just an update on the situation and an absolute result!
I phoned Wiggle and they told me to get the brakes repaired at my local mountain bike dealer and they in turn would refund the cost of the repairs! New pads and full brake bleed! Result!
Sounds like Wiggle, always had great service from them - nicely sorted I phoned Wiggle and they told me to get the brakes repaired at my local mountain bike dealer and they in turn would refund the cost of the repairs! New pads and full brake bleed! Result!
