That's fantastic. Though the newsreader is dumb. In answer to the "why?" is just "FUN"
Though on releated note. I had a fat old guy in a Civic this morning drive up the blue lane, then try and cut in front of me (in the car) . When I didn't let him, he got the arse. When I pointed out that the blue lane is for bikes, he said.
"No" and shook his head.
Utter utter t

Sometimes I scare myself with my thoughts after such an event. I'm really laid-back when I drive/cycle and never react with anything other than a blank stare at people when they do things like that... but always after the event has passed, for 0.5 of a second, I can see myself stopping in their path, throwing my bike against their car, dragging them out of the car and pulling them over to the 'bike' symbol and rubbing their face into it shouting;

Nice little video
The blue bike lanes in London are just lip service to cyclists. You can still drive in them with no penalty. There are sufficient CCTV cameras in London to manage it, so I would like to see fines for drivers who enter the lanes.
Also I would like people to look in their mirror when opening car doors, so I am not forced to cycle into them. Currently sporting a bruised shoulder as a result of the cretin that opened his door on me last night whilst parked on the 'Cycle Super Highway' in Tooting.

The worst I ever encountered was when me and my mates were on DH bikes (read big heavy and slow on road) in a green lane (Buses, bikes and taxis) in Edinburgh (cycling round somewhere to get a lift if it matters) - saw some tosser trying to scoot up the inside of traffic in the "car" lane on the right, so I decided to pull out and ride 2 abreast - no way he was going to fit past and no way I was going to let him try. Eventually, he got past, jumped out and threatened to make a citizens arrest and asked me "what would have happened to my family in that car if I hadn't seen you and hit you?" I wasn't proud of what we replied with, but it may have questioned his size, hair growth and genitalial endowment.

I've never proud of the stream of abuse I launch at drivers/pedestrians (a little ashamed if I'm perfectly honest), but after they have nearly severely injured/killed me through a lack of observation the red mist sometimes comes over. Rich_W said:

Unless that section of the cycle highway was bounded by a solid white line making it a mandatory cycle lane he could have a point, particularly if turning left - still you expect people to be courteous to other road users "No" and shook his head.
