RaceFace Diabolus Chainset
Discussion
Any one know anything about these?
Been recommended to me but not sure its suitable, looking to fit to a Cove Stiffee / Hustler (undecided which frame to keep) mainly XC riding, going to run it as a single chainring with the option to convert back to a double.

It's a bit hardcore for XC use I think but a lovely looking piece of kit!
I have a spare Shimano SLX double chainset which I bought to run as a single, but have now decided to go for a triple! In VGC with bottom bracket - yours for £65 if of any interest. Also have a SRAM 970 11-34 cassette and 951 that was used with it, all in fine working order. Could do the lot for £75.

My Orange Crush (hardtail) had one from new. I don't expect it's a particularly light bit of kit, but it's been going strong for three years of me abusing the hell out of it (including three weeks in Morzine) and isn't showing even the slightest bit of damage, so I'd say they're pretty f

Just had a pair warranty replaced on my DH Bike. As already Stated very heavy, and not as strong as you would think, Silverfish sent me a pair of Atlas FR's instead, which come out over 240g Lighter!
I'm also looking at the Shimano Saints, they seem to be 250g lighter also, are these a better option or should I look at XTR which are lighter still, but probably not so strong??keep the Saint stuff for the DH bike.
There's a glut of knock-down 'old style' 9 speed stuff including the obsolete as of 3 weeks ago XTR stuff going cheap online.

Whip off the rings you don't want to use and bosch, it'll take a noticable amount of weight out. Just change XTR rings for ones not made of moon rock when they wear out.
SLX should be a little tougher than XT and XTR but they're still way tougher than you need. TBF on hardtail your knees will break on a heavy landing before an one of the above.

I have a pair of diabolus cranks on my hustler (were on my cove stiffee before) they are fine, i do not really worry about weight, they are solid cranks,
I have the RF Atlas ones on my Cove handjob, obviously they are lighter but feel just as strong. I have not looked back since using RF stuff apart from the BB are not so solid, moved on to hope ones as i have worn them out.
