Grand Union - Paddington Arm

Thinking of doing a trip into London along the Grand Union from Uxbridge to Brentford then up the Paddington arm to Regents Park

Assuming reasonable weather, how is the surface? I'm on a MTB with slicks. Are there lots of bike barriers - I know there's a handful around Uxbridge - if there are loads going into town then I may not bother!
