2010 Wilier Izoard

Anyone got one as it would be good to hear your thoughts and experience of the bike.

I'm looking at an Athena spec bike with Fulcrum 3's in the red, white & black colour scheme, which is a special order but I have found a dealer close to me who has one and is willing to do a deal for cash, the normal price is £2,900 but the deal will be considerably less than this, as already suggested by the dealer.

I already have a 2009 Wilier La Triestina which will become my winter bike, and I want to stick with the Wilier brand. I know the Wilier Gran Turismo is due out soon but an Athena spec version is £3,200 and the Izoard is a lot less than the forthcoming Gran Turismo.

Any thoughts are appreciated.

havent ridden one but for an off the peg £2.5K bike it seems to tick all the boxes, great frame, wheels and grouppo package and the reviews seem to think its equally at home on the race scene as it is on a sportive. you dont eee many high end wiliers around which is a shame.

I've only tried a Mortirolo (nice) but the Izoard is a lovely looking bike and I think it's prettier than the Gran Turismo. Although the fork weighs 100g less on the 'GT', the frames are a similar weight, you can always upgrade the forks if 100g means that much to you. How much stiffer/more comfortable is the GT - 5% or 10% maybe?

I like the Bianchi Infinito as well though appreciate you're happy sticking with Wilier and it sounds like you can get a good deal on the Izoard:

The Izoard is much nicer looking than the GT in my eyes (although this may change once we get some into stock), and will ride really well, the Athena bike is great and I would suggest getting one now before the new cheapened versions come in.
I really wanted a Centaur version (red/white, the better colourway) but they were all gone by the time I was in a position to buy unfortunately (which is why i'm a bit gutted that they have downgraded them for 2011).

Also in mind these cannot be shipped and will have to be collected in person aswell if your looking at a shop which is some distance away, but if this isn't an issue then I would definately reccomend the bike...aside from the ride, look at it, its stunning!

Cheers for the replies chaps.

The dealer I'm getting the Izoard from is about 30 minutes drive away so no problem there. The bike is a 2010 Izoard with Athena group set, Fulcrum 3's in the red, white & black colour scheme. The dealer himself had already ordered it in for stock in this colour scheme. The white and silver colour scheme just doesn't do the bike any justice at all, that's why I searched and in the end found that my nearest Wilier dealer had the colour scheme and spec I wanted.

I'm picking the bike up soon as we have struck a deal and also putting Speedplay stainless steel pedals on it. As another present to myself I bought myself some Sidi Energy 2 shoes.....well you need everything to be Italian don't you
