... put Shimano on an Italian frame?

Looking at a Pinarello Prince but I am a lifetime Dura Ace user and would prefer to fit 7900 or Di2 (gulp) rather than Super Record.

Am I a heathen?

Not at all. A frame like that deserves a decent cog set.

Yes.

[I'd rather walk than ride ShimaNo.]

who the flinkin blip really cares? if you have to ask then you are more concerned about what other people may think than how good it all performs. the purists are the only reason i hate the sport of road cycling, it doesnt happen in mountain biking, just the stuck up world of roadies where the campag riders seem to have this belief that they are better because of the groupset thy have fixed to their stty steel frame welded together in the back streets of Napoli in 1973.

you have no idea how much i laugh as i pass them on my ultegra-laded halfords special.... you can almost see them retch...."boardman.....from halfords....... with shimano.......must find some super record...... quick.....tooo late......bleuuuurrrrrrgh"

anyway i dont believe that anyone has approached bradley wiggins and condemned his use of dura ace on a pinarello?.....

fit SRAM it works better than campag and Dura Ace,Dura Ace imo looks horrid. The campag 11 speed is finicky and clunky to shift but looks great,id rather have gears that work tbh

The word on the street is that Di2 is pretty special. Although I agree both mechs look a bit, well, mongish.

Sorely tempted. Got sign off from the missus last night too. Happy to spend daft money on a bike, but won't let me get a 500 Abarth. confused

All loans come at a very competitive 357% APRwink

surely you could just say the 500 came free with the frame and forks?

I have a Paris with dura ace, much prefer the shimano hoods and shifters, never get anything but positive comments about my bike!

I had my Principia rebuilt a few months ago with Di2. It's ace. Yes it's stupidly expensive but then so is that frame you're going to plonk it on smile Who cares whether you have a bike solely composed on italian parts or an all CF machine or one made by a lone craftsman in his shed in deepest Wisconsin. Ride what you want to ride and just get out there, ride the thing and enjoy being on the bike.

The only downside I have found of going from Dura Ace (2000 version) to Dura Ace (2010 version) is that the thinner chain needs a lot more cleaning than my old one. If really clean the whole drive chain is virtually silent but with only minimal gunk on it (say 200 miles or so) it makes too much noise and needs a thorough cleaning again. It's only 20 minutes to give the entire bike a good clean and polish so not a big issue. More of an issue is those darn Look Keo pedals starting to squaek half way through a ride!

I think the frame you mentioned has internal cable routing for Di2 as well which will make the installation look great.

Sometimes you have to be a big kid
